Internet addiction: Is it all in your brain? technology addiction

by alsaCEMusic

This video looks at the negative effects of internet addiction and how cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is used to treat it. CBT focuses on getting rid of bad habits and replacing them with alternative behaviours that are more healthy. Addiction is a complex problem that affects many people around the world. Addiction isn’t limited to substance abuse such as drug and alcohol abuse. It also includes behaviours such as internet addiction. Addiction makes someone unable to stop doing something, even though it causes them mental or physical harm.

This video was made by McMaster Demystifying Medicine students Ezza Jalil, Maryam Heba, Shaheer Jah, and Shaya Zhang.

As a therapist, one is always looking for new effective ways to help those with varying degrees of addiction, this video provides a very interesting perspective. If done properly especially when combined with a workbook like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Worksheets for Substance Abuse by Portia Cruise, it becomes a lot easier to help patients track their progress, stay motivated, and avoid relapse.

I have my Chem boards exams tomorrow but haven't studied a thing. Even if i study for a half an hour i feel like it's enough and get right back to my phone. I Really need help. Its feels so much fun to spend time on net rather than studying, which i hate
